Course and Program Curriculum

The curriculum cycle within the New Mexico State University System begins at the course level. Where in CourseLeaf CIM, departmental users are able to create, edit and inactivate course curriculum that can then be added to the Schedule via the CourseLeaf CLSS systems and added into their program requirements within the CourseLeaf PIM System. All PIM changes, additions and inactivations are then added into the Academic Catalog.

CourseLeaf CIM

The NMSU System currently uses CourseLeaf CIM (Courses) for submitting all course curriculum changes, additions, and inactivations, as well as, following ARP 4.68 for all Course Curriculum Policies.

All current prefixes are available within the system, if a department needs to create a new prefix please contact the Associate Registrar for Curriculum Systems to get the approval form and steps for the process. With the State of New Mexico’s Common Course Numbering initiative, changes to existing state-approved prefixes may be more complex.

The University Student Records Office (SRO) is responsible for submitting state level approvals on behalf of the New Mexico State University system. This includes Common Course Numbering, and CIP Codes, they also work collaboratively with the General Education Course Certification Committee (GECCC) Chair to get all General Education submissions to the state. Departments and campuses will go through the Courseleaf system for all Course changes so that the SRO can submit to the state as needed.

For deadlines for course submissions and approvals, see the “Deadlines” tab.

The NMSU System currently uses CourseLeaf PIM (Programs) for submitting all program curriculum changes, additions, and inactivations, as well as, following ARP 4.81 for all Program Curriculum Policies. The PIM system will be available on November 13th, all approved users will be receiving training on the system before being able to submit any curriculum updates.

With the PIM system, departments/campuses will no longer be making requirements and/or roadmap changes within the Catalog system. All curriculum-based changes will first go through the PIM system for approval and upon final approval, the catalog changes will be made automatically.

The University Student Records Office (SRO) is responsible for submitting state level approvals on behalf of the New Mexico State University system. This includes New Mexico Higher Education Articulation Committee (NMHEAC) approvals and CIP Codes. Departments and campuses will go through the Courseleaf system for all Program changes so that the SRO can submit to the state as needed.

For deadlines for course submissions and approvals, see the “Deadlines” tab.

The NMSU system currently users the CourseLeaf CAT (Catalog) system to maintain all campus academic catalogs. Departments, colleges, and campuses will be able to access the system to make overview information edits that pertain to their specific catalog pages. This can include descriptions of their college, department, programs, contact information, and faculty within the departments. All other changes to their pages, which include the requirements for their degrees and the roadmaps will be updated in the CourseLeaf PIM system.

Only authorized users will be able to access the Academic Catalog Editing Site. All other individuals can access the published catalog, located in the “Quick Links” on the right-side navigation of the page or at https://catalogs.nmsu.edu/

For deadlines for course submissions and approvals, see the “Deadlines” tab.

Course Curriculum  & Scheduling Deadlines

All Scheduling and Course Deadlines are visible below and also available in the PDF file. They are separated by system CLSS (Scheduling) and CIM (Courses), then by the term. For Scheduling, the end date is when we switch the phase within the system and will trigger the appropriate rules based on ARP 12.71. For Courses, the yellow highlighted rows are the departmental/campus submission deadlines to begin the workflow of approvals.

Program Curriculum  & Catalog Deadlines

Program Curriculum and Catalog Deadlines will be coming soon as they are impacted by State approving bodies. All program changes will go through the new CourseLeaf PIM (Programs) system before being automatically updated in the catalog. Catalog updates will be to the non-academic department content and to any of the verbiage on academic college and department pages that is not degree requirements or roadmaps.
